Senior David Matlock and junior Jake Jamison were honored by the Macon Touchdown Club on Monday night at its annual jamboree at the Methodist Home.

Jamison, a kicker for the Eagles, was named “Special Teams Player of the Year.” He was successful on six of his nine field goal tries last season, hit 32 of 35 extra points and 15 of his 55 kickoffs were touchbacks. As a sophomore last year, he was 60 of 65 on extra points, a school record, and is now 92 for 100 in his career.

Matlock, a senior co-captain for Stratford, was one of five student-athletes who receive scholarship awards. Matlock played center and defensive tackle. He has maintained a 4.1 grade-point average and scored a 29 on his ACT. In addition to playing tennis, lacrosse and wrestling, he has more than 120 community service hours. He plans to attend Duke University or the University of Georgia. He is a member of the Gazebo sport staff.

A large crowd attended the jamboree. Georgia football coach Kirby Smart was the guest speaker.
