BLAKE HENDLEY: Baseball, friendships and legendary grandfather
May 16, 2017
Blake Hendley has attended Stratford since Pre-K.
Blake plays baseball at Stratford and is on the shooting team.
He said his favorite part of high school has been hanging out with friends and having great teachers to help him throughout high school.
Blake loved the recent senior class pinwheel dedication for his sister Brooke.
“I thought it was beautiful, very nice,” he said. “The twirlers were awesome. It was beautiful, all around great.”
He said he does not remember much about Brooke, his twin sister who died when they were in pre-school at Stratford.
Blake plans to attend Georgia Southern University in the fall. He believes he is ready for college because Stratford has prepared him well academically. His favorite teacher has been his English teacher, Dr. Ann Dromsky.
Blake said it is pretty cool to have a grandfather who was a major-league pitcher and was inducted in the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. Bobby Hendley, who coached with baseball coach Bubber Adams at Stratford, pitched the only one-hit game in major league history when he was with the Chicago Cubs, losing 1-0 to the Los Angeles Dodgers when Sandy Koufax pitched a perfect game.
