French Club takes center stage during National French Week
November 8, 2017
The French Club is one of many at Stratford that showcases our foreign languages. The advisor is Mrs. Rachel Chabot, who teaches Upper School French and AP French.
This year’s co- presidents are Sydnie Rouleau, Katherine Hall, and Murray McCormack. The purpose of the club is to experience French culture and food. In November, it celebrates National French Week. In March, the club celebrates Mardi Gras, along with helping plan and organize visits by exchange students from France.
“It super fun, really it’s a low impact, most of what we do is to kind of hang out and celebrate fun things in French Club,’’ Mrs. Chabot said.
Mrs. Chabot, who also serves as chair of the foreign languages department at Stratford, said the goal is to get students immersed in French culture and have fun with their field trips and scavenger hunt.
Senior Katherine Hall said she was looking forward to sampling the French cuisine. Sophomore Nadia Reese is interested in an upcoming club trip to an Atlanta Hawks game.
“I’m excited to learn about the French culture, mainly because my dad speaks French and it is fun to have conversations with him,’’ freshman Gavin Martin said.
