The Stratford Marching Band and Color Guard will be attending the Armuchee High School Invitational Marching Band Competition in Rome, Georgia, this Saturday, Sept. 28.

The band will perform its show for a series of judges, and then it along with the color guard, percussion, and drum majors all will be scored on a scale of one to five where one is superior.

The show this year is titled “1969: The Year That Rocked Our World” and includes songs such as “Hey Jude” by The Beatles and “Pinball Wizard” by “The Who” from the rock opera “Tommy.” The band and color guard have been rehearsing every Tuesday night and in the mornings before school.

This is junior Mimi Rader’s fifth year as a member of the color guard.

“I am excited for the competition,” she said. “We have a great group of twelve girls this year.”
