Dylan Quintal has been named STAR student for Stratford Academy.  To earn such an honor, a senior must earn the highest score on a single testing of the SAT and also be in the top 10 percent of his or her class.

Upper school principal Margaret Brogdon announced the award at Monday’s assembly.  While Quintal had been notified of his achievement more than a month ago, his STAR teacher, Michelle Fleming, did not know Quintal had chosen her as his STAR teacher until the assembly.

“I thought about of all my teachers, who has challenged me the most and engaged me the most and inspired me to grow as a person and as a writer and as a student, and it had to come down to Mrs. Fleming,” said Quintal.

Fleming taught Quintal in AP English in his junior year.  This is her first year being named STAR teacher.

The pair will attend a banquet along with the area’s other STAR students and teachers.  From this banquet, a winner will be announced for Bibb County.  That winner will then go onto a region competition.
