After months of being highly recruited in both football and basketball, Stratford senior Quintez Cephus signed a national letter of intent to play football at the University of Wisconsin.
He was joined by Bella Gill, who signed a soccer scholarship at West Alabama. As Stratford students, faculty, and parents filled the gym, Cephus sealed the deal, and will be on his way to Madison, Wisconsin next fall.
It was an emotional day as the star athlete thanked everyone who played a part in his success.
Cephus has recorded one of the most impressive sports careers in school history, smashing records previously held for decades.
In his senior year, he recorded 913 receiving yards and 16 all purpose touchdowns, carrying the football team to just shy of a state championship appearance.
Not only is Cephus one of the most decorated Stratford football players to date, he has also shown is hand in basketball.
In last year’s first round playoff game, Cephus had a record-setting 53 points, driving him to eclipse 2,000 career points: a Stratford record. Last month, Cephus had one of his dunks featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top 10 plays .
