Stratford’s Literary team won first place at the region literary meet on Tuesday, March 1.

The team — composed of speakers, writers, actors, and singers — competed against eight other schools at First Presbyterian Day School.

Students participated in their respective events track-meet style.  When a specific competition began, competitors would report to the area of that event.  Otherwise, they were free to watch other performances, such as the singing events.

The Stratford team walked away with first place, while Mount de Sales was second.  In addition, each individual ranking first or second advances on to the state meet on March 12.  The upcoming competition will be hosted by Stratford at Wesleyan College.

The team consisted of extemporaneous speakers Rushabh Patel and Tejas Athni, essayists Tarab Ajjan, Zainab Siddiqui, and Carly Wanna, oral interpreters Asa Marshall, Meredith Fuchs, Grace Deedrick and Katie King, and singers Savannah Alday, Sarah Kate Sellers, Gracie Childers, Cameron Walsh, Stephen Mosley, Walker Gibbons, Dylan Quintal, and Noah Fenimore.

Patel (domestic extemporaneous speaker), Siddiqui (personal essayist), Fuchs (humorous interpretation), and Deedrick and King (duo interpretation) won first in their categories.  Marshall (dramatic interpretation) and Alday (girls solo) placed second.
