New Stratford boys basketball coach Sean Sweeney visited campus on Tuesday.

Sweeney has been an assistant coach at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. He will replace Coach Jamie Dickey, who is leaving to go into a private business.

Sweeney said he became familiar with Stratford when he was recruiting senior O’Showen Williams.

A Philadelphia native, he has coached basketball at Francis Marion and North Charleston High. He was the director of basketball operations at Charleston Southern.

At Stratford, Sweeney will be teaching high school geography and coaching middle school football and Varsity basketball.

In his three-year career as an assistant with Georgia Southwestern, the Hurricanes were 20-11, 15-12, and 11-15.
