Stratford’s varsity cross country teams will be running at the state meet in Carrollton on Friday. The team left Macon early Thursday afternoon.
Only eight or nine team members usually attend the state meet — the top seven runners and one or two alternates. But, since the team did not attend the race in Disney World because of Hurricane Matthew last month, coachss Ginny Reeves, Jeannie Mays and Ian Hayley allowed the entire girls and boys teams to go to Carrollton.
“We’re so excited. It’s going to be another great year at state,” said Coach Reeves.
The 2016 top seven runners for boys and girls (in no particular order) are as follows:
Girls
- Emory Sutherland (sophomore)
- Ellie Peterson (junior)
- Lizzi Clayton (senior)
- Maimee Henderson (sophomore)
- Julianna Hightower (senior)
- Josie Lamb (freshman)
- Gracen Boatright (senior)
Boys

- Cal Whitworth (junior)
