Weagles make big splash in region meet

The Stratford swim team had a very successful meet last Friday night.

Finishing with 392 points overall, the “Weagles” are now region champions.

The boys placed first with 201 points, and the girls placed second with 191 points, just two points behind FPD.

Freshman Matt Newberry won first place in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:03.48. Walker Gibbons placed first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:14.38.

In the 400 Freestyle Relay, Ben Jorgenson, Matt Newberry, Walker Gibbons, Lucas Brewer placed first with a time of 4:07.69.

Katherine Hall, Ellie Minette, Abby Ellison, and Tarab Ajjan placed first with a time of 2:16.72 in their 200 Medley Relay.

Ellie Minette also placed first in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:11.80. Katherine Hall placed first in the girls’ 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:23.37.
