CARLY WANNA: Valedictorian, homecoming queen and Gazebo editor

May 14, 2017

Carly Wanna is a senior involved in band, theater and journalism.

She began participating in theater in the third grade where she was cast as a flower in “Alice and Wonderland.”  She has continued her career throughout high school.  Her favorite show was the one act play “Band Geeks,” where they went to region competition. Sadly, they lost, but she still holds this memory as a fond one.

She was crowned homecoming queen last fall. She played trumpet in the Spirit of Stratford Marching Band.

Carly has been in journalism for three years, and served as editor of The Gazebo her junior and senior years.

She recognizes the experience of receiving valedictorian and honorable mention (in journalism) in Golden Eagles as nonchalant. She found out about both over phone, one through text and one through Snapchat. She was most excited about having the honor to be valedictorian. One of her closest friends, Tarab Ajjan, is this year’s salutatorian.

One thing Carly believes very few know about her is she that she considers herself, “a functional idiot.”

She is considered by her classmates to have contracted Benjamin Buttons Disease, since she, in reality, is a small child.
