Fenimore, Fuchs selected for district jazz band
Junior Maggie Fuchs has been playing saxophone for seven years. For the auditions of the District Honor Jazz Band, Maggie was required to prepare two Jazz Etudes, and in the second etude she had to have an improv.
In addition to having an improv at the audition, Maggie had to also cite read.
“I feel like I have put in a lot of work in my music, and this is just something I have earned by this time,” she said.
Noah Fenimore, also a junior, has been playing percussion since he was 5 years old. He heard of this opportunity by band instructor, Ms. Laura Voss.
At the audition, percussionists were asked to play various rhythms.
“I was in district honor band last year but this is the district jazz band,” Noah said. “So I haven’t done it yet, but I think it will be really fun.”
