Eight Stratford seniors participate in national walkout
While Stratford did not officially participate in the nationwide school walkouts in support of the Parkland Shooting victims, eight Stratford seniors did.
Tejas Athni, Sahan Vangala, Ellie Wangerin, Ellie Minette, Sarah Koplin, Tripp Vaughn, Akshay Ranabhotu, and Manasa Vemuri, walked out of school on March 14 for 17 minutes in memory of the 17 victims of the shooting.
The Stratford students said the walkouts were not about the politics of gun control.
“One of the things that is kind of convoluted is that the walkout is about gun rights or gun advocacy,” said Sahan Vangala. “But I feel like this should be more focused on violence.”
“Regardless of political stance, everyone should be against violence,” Tejas Athni said.
