Gordon reaches out to students with artwork
Featured artist for Celebrating Art next month spent three days on campus last week
Bradley Gordon, who will be the featured artist for Celebrating Art next month, visited Stratford last week.
Gordon, who lives in Oxford, Mississippi, presented his artwork to the students of the Pre-School and Lower School, and helped them recreate paintings in his style.
“I was just kind of telling them a little bit about my story, and how I became a painter,” Gordon said,
Celebrating Art will be held October 23-26 at The Academy.
Gordon said he enjoyed his three days at the school.
“It has been wonderful,” he said. “Everyone has been so sweet.”
Gordon was invited by Mrs. Kathleen Medlin, the school’s director of development, after she saw his artwork in a clothing store.
Gordon is a full-time artist in Oxford, the home of Ole Miss, and owns a studio in Water Valley, Mississippi.
“I’m very fortunate, I just wake up every day, load my dogs up, take my daughter to school, and spend the day painting,” he said.
