Ecology Club helps with ‘Chipper’ day
A dozen members of Stratford’s Ecology Club had a head-start on making Santa’s good list for next year by helping with the Christmas trees of this year.
The Ecology Club helped with Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful “Bring One for the Chipper Day” on Saturday, January 9 on Riverside Drive in downtown Macon.
During Chipper Day, people donated their Christmas trees. The trees are then chipped into mulch, which will be used throughout the community.
The event has been going on for 30 years, but Stratford has only been involved for the last three years.
“We had 12 Stratford kids there, and a bunch of other organizations were there, too,” said Mrs. Bridges, an Upper School AP Biology teacher who is the club’s advisor.’
“There is always an opportunity to recycle,” said Senior Maddie Fackler, President of the Ecology Club, “The fact is that we have these real trees that can be reused, so it’s always welcome and a positive experience to donate your tree.”
