Stratford hopes to bounce back in home opener
Eagles face George Walton on Military Appreciation Night
The Stratford Eagles will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Savannah County Day to start their season when they face George Walton Friday night in their home opener.
It’s Military Appreciation Night, and all Stratford military families will be recognized at 7 p.m. Kickoff is at 7:30.
Coach Mark Farriba’s team, which returns six starters from last year’s state playoff team, dropped a 21-7 decision to Savannah Country Day on the road last week. George Walton Academy, a school in Monroe, Ga., is no stranger to Stratford.
“We’ve played George Walton many times in the past,” Farriba said. “They’re an old GISA school. They’re in the Georgia High School Association now like we are. I’m very familiar with their coaches and their staff. They’ve got a good program and usually have a good team. It will be a big challenge for us.”
