Cross country teams sweep area meet
Eagle runners will compete in state meet in Carrollton on Saturday
The Stratford girls and boys cross country teams both finished first at the area meet at FPD last Wednesday.
Both teams will be well represented at the state meet in Carrollton this Saturday.
Senior and captain runner, Sara Kate Durkee, finished ninth at the meet and qualified for the state meet. Even though she qualified for state, she will not be able to compete due to a hip injury endured in the area meet.
Sophomore Dylan Driver was third, sophomore Annie Putzke was seventh, senior Jenny Belle Butler was eighth, Sara Kate Durkee was ninth.
Sophomore Gunn Bush finished fifth, senior Carter Eddlemon was seventh and junior Nathan Dummitt came in eighth.
Sara Kate said she was happy with the team’s showing at area meet but is sad that she can’t compete for her last high school meet with her teammates.
She said the goal for the team is to finish higher than they did last year. They will shoot for at least 10th place as they finished 11th last season.
