Swimmers hope to make splash at qualifying meet
The Stratford Swim Team is preparing for an important state qualifying Meet.
The team has their last meet of the year, which is the state qualifying meet unless they go on and qualify for state. It is at Northside Pool on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 9 a.m.
This year, the Varsity boys Stratford Swim Team had a brilliant season. They only had two meets this year, but they did great, finishing in 1st place in one meet and 4th place in the other.
Freshman Hunter Tehrani came in first in the 100-yard Butterfly and Junior Andy Cheek came in first in the 100-yard Backstroke, which helped the team achieve 1st place at their first meet.
For the Varsity Girls Stratford Swim Team this year, they did not place as well as the boys, but they still have the potential to do excellent at the state qualifying meet. Even though the girls finished in 5th place in one meet and 6th place in the other, they can still do very well at the state qualifying meet. Junior Kanon Hinson and Freshman Mary Frank Seagraves are likely to score many points at the state qualifying meet.
The Boys and Girls Varsity Swim teams at Stratford have many talented swimmers that can make a big impact at the State Qualifying Meet. Both teams have a high chance to extend their season by qualifying for state this Saturday Morning.
