SENIORITY

Point guard Ashya Roberts is team’s lone senior

Starting point guard Aysha Roberts is the only senior on the Stratford girls basketball team this year.

She has taken a leadership role on the team, which is unbeaten in its first three games.

“This year is a little different and I know I have to take a lot of responsibility. But I know they juniors will help me, like Carey, Evans, and Pete, and I know the freshman so it’s not that hard,” said Roberts.

The team lack not only seniors, but also size.

“It’s so weird having a smaller-sized team,” says Roberts. “In the past few years, we’ve had like Bonnie Gerrard and Taylor Reese. But now the tallest person on our team is Carey Woodcock. So it’s kind of difficult.”

Nonetheless, the team has high hopes for their season.

Friday’s home game is at 6 p.m. against North Cobb Christian School.
