Maggie Greer has been elected president of Stratford’s student body for the 2016-17 school year. Upper school students cast their ballots on Tuesday morning.

“I am so excited and so honored and so surprised that the classes here at Stratford elected me,” Greer said. “I’m very shocked, but I’m super excited.”

The student body president is a senior elected by the entire upper school.  Greer and fellow candidate Aaron Arnold delivered speeches at Monday morning assembly, outlining their respective plans if elected president.

“I’m interested in a lot of different aspects,” said Greer. “I definitely want to improve Turkey Ball.  Make it bigger and better than it ever has been. I want to look into the student issues and maybe legalize the green jacket – maybe even look into seeing if we can wear sandals or not. There’s a lot of little projects that I am interested in.”

Ginny Anne Pinson reflects on her year as president in a guest column.

In addition to serving as student body president, Greer will continue as a member of the Beta Club, Global and Community Leadership Club, and Key Club, as well as continuing her duties as a varsity cheerleader.

“I just don’t want to let anyone down,” she said. “I hope I can fill Ginny Anne’s shoes because she set a really high bar.”

Greer enrolled at Stratford in pre-k and has allegedly loved every minute of it, including, but not limited to the following: the winter musical, Friday night football, FLIK’s Chinese day, and Ms. Carol Lanier.
