NATHAN DILLARD: String music, soccer and solving the ‘Cube’
Something you may not know about senior Nathan Dillard is he has been playing the violin since sixth grade.
“I absolutely love it,” he said. “I really enjoy playing it.”
Nathan also plays soccer for Stratford. His favorite memory is spending time with his teammates and going to a state competition.
“Just being with the team and being with my friends is really fun,” Nathan said. “Being in a state championship was also pretty fun.”
Nathan has been attending Stratford since his freshman year.
“One of the coaches reached out and gave me some information about the school, and I came to visit, and I just fell in love with the school,” he said.
When asked what his favorite subject is, Nathan said, “That would probably have to be science. I enjoyed biology my freshman year, and I like environmental.”
According to Nathan, a hidden talent of his is solving the Rubik’s Cube. “I haven’t quite yet got it, but I’m close,” he said.
His favorite memory from his time at Stratford was going into his senior year.
“I was very, very enthusiastic about it. I was happy and excited to finally be a senior, just looking up from a freshman’s perspective,” he said.
When asked if he had been struck with “senioritis,” Nathan said he had.
“Towards the end of the year, it kind of gets crammed up and it’s like sometimes you don’t want to be here as much,” he said. “But for the most part, I enjoy every day that I have here.”
It hasn’t been all sunshine and smiles, though. Nathan recalled his embarrassing memory from his time here– when he dropped his tray in the cafeteria.
“I dropped my tray, and food went everywhere. It was very embarrassing,” he said.
Nathan’s advice to future Stratford seniors is to enjoy the time they have while they’re here.
“When you’re a senior it blows by,” he said. “This year has been really fast, so enjoy it while it lasts.”
Nathan plans on attending Ole Miss, but he’s also considering Georgia College as an in-state option.
