Beta Club Serves Spaghetti, Helps St. Jude

Stratford’s Beta Club donates $2,000 annually to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.  The money is raised each year by hosting a spaghetti dinner, according to club advisor Mr. Griff Ethridge. Beta Club members are responsible for selling tickets to the dinner.

This year, parents of the Beta Club members served 285 spaghetti dinners the evening of Feb. 11 in the Stratford lunchroom. Stratford families, faculty, and even some Tattnall Trojans enjoyed their spaghetti before the varsity basketball games. The food was prepared by Flik Services, Stratford’s food service, with the exception of club-contributed homemade desserts.

The annual donation, according to the hospital’s website, helps fund the $1.9 million spent daily on research and the treatment of children with cancer and other life threatening diseases.
