Matlock, Montalvo nominated for Wendy’s High School Heismans

Seniors Monica Montalvo and David Matlock have been nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman scholarship by Stratford’s athletic director Coach Mark Farriba.

The scholarship criteria consists of having at least a 3.0 GPA, significant leadership roles in school and the community, and playing a varsity sport in high school.

Matlock, a senior co-captain for Stratford’s football team, was recently honored as a scholar-athlete by the Macon Touchdown Club. Matlock played center and defensive tackle. He has maintained a 4.1 grade-point average and scored a 29 on his ACT. In addition to playing football, he also has participated in tennis, lacrosse and wrestling,

In February, Montalvo signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at The Citadel. Additionally, she has achieved a 4.2 GPA and is captain of the girls’ varsity soccer team and was captain of the girls’ varsity volleyball team in the fall. She scored an impressive 1310 on her SAT.
