The Spirit of Stratford band and color guard will compete Saturday at the Oconee Classic Marching Competition in Milledgeville.

For the past two months, they have been practicing in the mornings before home room and for three hours every Tuesday night.

This year, the name of the halftime show is “Origins.” It features three songs: “Mars,” “Primal Instinct,” and “All Things.”

The color guard, percussion, marching band, and drum majors will all be judged separately on a scale of one to five. One means superior, two means excellent, and three and under mean that the show needs improvement.

Many band students are excited to compete while others are nervous.

“I’m nervous but I think we’ll do amazing,” sophomore color guard member Lauren McElrath said.
